Craig and Suzanne Kuehn

                Our Family and Travels

We love to travel. In the early part of our marriage, we never dreamed of visiting the places we have already seen. There are still more places to see and many places to re-visit. We have been truly blessed.

In the first year of our marriage, we took a vacation to see the five national parks in Utah. It would be years before we did anything similar to that. After we moved to Nevada, our vacations were visiting family in Salt Lake. After we moved back to Salt Lake, we did stay-cations until we took a chance at a timeshare presentation. We bought a week in Park City. We did it to force ourselves out of the house during vacation time, even though Park City was less than an hour away.

Then something unexpected happened. Craig was hired by American Express and we moved to New Jersey with Craig working in New York City. It would a year away before the Traveler's Cheque Division moved to Salt Lake. When spring arrived, we decided to take the opportunity to see as much of the east as we could until we went back to Salt Lake, though we did see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We went somewhere every weekend: the Delaware Water Gap, Mystic, Conn., Great America, a weekend in D.C., the Bronx Zoo, the Dodgers at Shea Stadium, Gettysburg, Valley Forge, and the last weekend, the Statue of Liberty.  We probably  caught the travel bug during these short trips.

After we returned to Salt Lake, we began to take advantage of trading our Park City timeshare for a week somewhere else. One of those places was Jackson, Wyoming. Though Craig had visited Yellowstone as a teenager, Suzie had never been there. We fell in love with Yellowstone and Grand Teton. We continue to visit about every five years. Some of those photos will be linked below.

Then after we moved to Placerville, a parishioner told us about a free 3 night stay with a car rental on Kauai. That is when we bought a week at Waiohai on Poipu Beach. The salesperson said we could use that week to go anywhere in the world and she was right. A few years later, we bought another Marriott week in Newport Beach, CA. Our first Kauai week was spent in Normandy, France because Waiohai was still under construction.  More of that European trip will be linked below.

Our 2020 travels were all canceled, save a trip to Tahoe in July.

We resumed traveling in 2021 and in full swing in 2022.

This page and its links will be continuously updated as we travel to new and old places and as we post pictures from past travels.
